SUPPORT THE ARC OF WAYNE COUNTY
How to help
Volunteer to help at one of our many events throughout the year. We host parties, The Bike Hike, pies or cupcakes at local Day Programs, and Dyberry Day Camp to name a few. We are always open to volunteers, new members, and great ideas.

Recent Events
March, Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! In 1987 March was declared Developmental Disabilities Month by President Reagan. For decades the Arc and its network of hundreds of chapters across the nation have fostered respect and access for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Tremendous progress has been made in protecting the rights of people with IDD and creating opportunities for them to live, learn, and work as valued members of their communities. March reminds us that individuals with developmental disabilities are valuable members of our society and deserve full participation in all aspects of life, including, education, employment, recreation, and civic engagement. We also have our annual St. Patrick's Day Dance on March 16th at the Seelyville Firehall from 3 to 6pm! We Hope to see you there!

Celebrate “Different Abilities” and Friendship
Special Needs Poem
-by April Vernon

“They say that I have “special “ needs,
And while that’s partly true,
The needs that matter most to me
Are the same ones you have too.
I NEED TO BE ACCEPTED.
I need friends that make me smile.
I need a chance to learn and grow,
Feeling valued all the while.
Sure, I need some extra help
And some things I can’t do,
But I hope you’ll see beyond all that
Inside, I’m just like you.”
